Chris Jackson - CEO & Founder

Chris is the founder and CEO of Protium, and the Chairman of the UK Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association. Chris originally began working on hydrogen through the World Bank, where his research helped secure the Bank’s first internal funding for Hydrogen & Fuel Cell research in over a decade. Subsequently Chris became an advisor to colleagues within the World Bank and IFC on hydrogen and fuel cell projects.

Chris previously worked for JLT Group, within the International Network and JLT’s Energy & Marine division. He has also worked for one of the UK’s leading renewable energy project developers, as well as for Venture Capital firms both in London and Israel. He holds a Masters in Energy, Finance and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and a first class BA (Honours) from the University of York.

Marco Dell’Aquila - Chief Investment Officer

Marco is an investor, adviser, developer, author and professor with 27 years’ experience in the energy sector.

He founded and chairs Power Capital, a financial advisory firm which has won mandates of c. €13 billion since 1997. Marco is also Adjunct Professor of Energy, Resources and Environment at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies and the co-founder of Inspiratia, a UK based Energy and Infrastructure data & analysis provider.

He co-founded Infrastructure Journal (now IJ Global) in 1997, which became the pre-eminent global online data & analysis provider to the infrastructure and energy sectors; Marco acted as its Editor-in-Chief until 2007. In the 1990s, he was an Executive Director of General Electric Capital’s projects group based in London, developing and investing in energy projects in the EMEA region.

Michael Jackson - Chairman

Michael Jackson MA FCA is the founder of Elderstreet Investments Limited, one of the UKs oldest venture capital firms and remains its executive chairman. For the past 24 years, he has specialised in raising finance and investing in the smaller companies quoted and unquoted sector, mostly in the UK tech and industrial sectors.

From 1987 until 2006, Michael was chairman of FTSE 100 company The Sage Group plc, and today he is a director of Elderstreet portfolio companies Fords Packaging Systems Limited, Macranet Limited and Access Intelligence plc.

Jack Eastwood - Chief Operations Officer

Jack has 4 years’ experience working for KPMG in its Deal Advisory team in the Middle East. During this time he worked on the due diligence for the Public Investment Fund’s acquisition of a stake in ACWA Power and on KPMG Saudi’s largest project managing a public-private partnership for the Saudi Ministry of Labour.  Experience at managing teams in unstructured environments, Jack lead operations at several start-ups following his return to the UK and helped them grow.

At Protium, Jack has worked across all aspects of the business and leads in the development of the company’s project financing models. He holds a Masters degree in Middle Eastern Economics and Arabic from the University of London and a Bachelors in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York. Jack is a keen sailor, rugby player and enjoys travelling and photography.

Peter Ramm - Chief Project Development Officer

Peter is a highly experienced Entrepreneur and Engineer within the energy field. He is a Founding Shareholder and Executive Board Member of Advanced Power AG (www.advancedpower.ch) a business that develops, structures and finances low carbon electricity in Europe and North America. Since its formation nearly 4,000MW of projects developed by Advanced Power have been constructed and Advanced Power continues to manage 3,000MW having raised in excess of $4bn of construction capital. During his 35 years in the power industry Peter has been involved in all aspects of the power industry including the manufacturing, development construction and operation of power plants. Peter has a deep knowledge of the European Energy system and supports conferences within this field as an Advisory Board member of the Enlit conference team and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Jenifer Baxter – Director of Innovation and Policy & Head of Protium Wales

Dr Jenifer Baxter is the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Manager of Protium Wales. She is also the Chief Engineer at the Institution for Mechanical Engineers in London.

Jenifer has a PhD from Cardiff University examining hydrogen from waste technologies, an MSc in Sustainability, Planning and Environmental Policy and a BEng in Environmental Engineering also from Cardiff University. Jenifer is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, IOM3 and is a Chartered Engineer and Scientist.

Jon Clipsham - Chief Commercial Officer

Jon Clipsham is the Chief Commercial Officer for Protium and Head of Protium Scotland. Jon previously led the green hydrogen revolution in Orkney islands, where in his role as the Hydrogen Development Manager for EMEC, which formed the basis of the Orkney green hydrogen eco-system. He is also a Board Member of the Scottish Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) and the first ever approved Hydrogen Training Assessor for the UK Maritime & Coast Guard Agency. Prior to Protium Jon also was a Principal at leading EPC Worley, through its consulting arm Advisian. Jon is based in Kirkwall in Orkney and has background in Metallurgy, catalytic technologies and material science from Imperial College & the University of Liverpool.
